The DSNGR is a wonderful train ride up to Silverton. Though the one way that returns via bus might be a little easier to do. Hence if you notice the rest of the set doesn’t have many pictures from the way back.
I went outside after our first night at the cabin and saw an amazing sight. Clouds were forming off the lake on the cold October morning.
Here’s a photo of the Cliff Palace during the golden hour. There was an incredibly annoying “Professional Photographer” there with his equally annoying assistant. He insisted on being the first person at a few places to take his masterpiece. He did have a digital medium format camera though. I guess he thought that gave him permission to be an ass.
Here’s a picture that I took on our Durango trip. It’s the view from the Welcome Center at Mesa Verde. I love how far everything looks. Almost monochrome. And that lone rock formation,
We found a use for our pie pumpkins today. Ale! We started a batch of Pumpkin ale based off of a American Amber Ale. We got the recipe from Do Your Brew. We happend to be in the north part of the Denver area for a soon to be newphew’s birthday party and we decided to try to find something to do with our pumpkins. The little pumpkin was 2 pounds and smelled quite tasty as we baked it for the beer. This one is a little darker than our other Amber Ale recipe. It’s also quite clearer because we used bags for the hops and grains instead of just for the grains.
Original Specific Gravity: 1.07
I’ve started homebrewing again. We made a Amber Beer from a kit from the local homebrewing supply place. Not sure we can keep the temperature at below 75 but we’ll see. The original specific gravit is 1.05
Morning Glorys are such beautiful flowers. This was growing on the fence that surrounds the Bear Creek Gardens.
Here’s an heirloom tomato. I think we waited a little too long to pick them.
